Republics vs Monarchies: Expenses Compared

Radical Royalist points out that despite having resigned in disgrace after less than two years in office, the former President of Germany (how painful it is even to type those three words!) will receive an annual pension of nearly 200,000 euros, as well as an office, staff, and chauffeur-driven limousine, all of which Germany's five other living ex-presidents or widows also receive. None of this is considered an argument against Germany's republican constitution. Yet "British" republicans dare to complain about the alleged cost of the British monarchy, with only one head of state to pay for--and she's still working. The mind boggles.
